TWO MAGNOLIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS NAMED IN TOP 100 HIGH SCHOOLS IN CA BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT

Magnolia Science Academy 2 in Van Nuys top-ranked charter high school in Los Angeles Unified

Los Angeles – Magnolia Public Schools (Magnolia), a high-performing network of public charter schools across California, had two of its high schools named this week among the top high schools in California and the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Magnolia Science Academy 2 in Van Nuys was ranked 32nd and Magnolia Science Academy Reseda was ranked 96th in California, respectively.

The rankings also made Magnolia Science Academy 2 the top-ranked charter high school in Los Angeles Unified and 66th highest-ranked charter high school in the nation.

According to the rankings, both high schools were in the top three percent of all high schools in the nation.

“We’re proud to once again have our schools recognized as among the best in the state and nation,” said Magnolia CEO Caprice Young. “When our charter schools repeatedly rank high on this list, it’s further validation of Magnolia’s successful track record of ensuring that all students—no matter their socioeconomic, ethnic or cultural background—graduate prepared for college because they’re already succeeding in college-level work in high school.”

U.S. News and World Report factors in several criteria, including students' performance on state tests, whether historically underserved students performed better than the state average, college readiness based on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate participation and performance, and for the first time, graduation rates.

“Our results are a testament not only to our hard-working students, but also to our committed teachers and school community – all of whom are committed to seeing every student succeed,” Young added.
