On Saturday, April 29, 2017, Magnolia Public Schools held it’s annual STEAM EXPO at the Long Beach Convention Center. Students from all Magnolia Schools participated in Science and Engineering Demonstrations, displayed their artwork, played amazing music, and much more! In addition, students were awarded in the STEAM categories throughout the event. We also had the privilege to have Michele Judd, P.E. Managing Director at Keck Institute for Space Studies as the keynote speaker who spoke about the importance of pursuing what you’re passionate about.
This year we brought a few new interactive elements such as a live mural painting where students, parents, and visitors were able to paint a piece of a mural. It was incredible to see all of the amazing projects focusing on conservation.
An affiliate fair of US Science & Engineering Festival, the STEAM EXPO 2016 is an excellent opportunity for all Southern California residents to enjoy a day full of STEAM projects, demonstrations, family challenges, music performances and robotics competitions. The EXPO itself will offer a venue for our students to showcase the outcomes of their STEAM studies and hard work, professionals to show how STEAM is used to better our communities, and participants to appreciate STEAM Education and supporters. The Expo event will also connect our students to the communities and professionals, and generate interest and excitement towards STEAM Education.
