Katie Mann embarked on her journey with the Magnolia Public Schools family in August 2010, assuming the role of a founding English Language Arts (ELA) teacher at Magnolia Science Academy - Bell. During her time at MSA-Bell, Katie taught 6th-grade ELA, Power English, and Designated ELD courses. Notably, she also spent a year as an SRLA (Students Run LA) coach, inspiring 7th and 8th-grade students to train for and successfully complete the Los Angeles Marathon. In the Fall of 2015, Katie transitioned from the classroom to the position of Instructional Coach. In this capacity, she provided support to teachers across all disciplines, aiding them in refining instructional practices and enhancing curriculum to address the diverse needs of students. In July 2019, Katie joined the Magnolia Public Schools Home Office Academic Team, serving as the ELA and EL Program Coordinator. Currently, Katie holds the role of Director of EL and ELA Programs. Katie has been unwavering in her commitment to elevating English Learner programs and the ELA department. Her focus on continuous refinement and improvement underscores her dedication to fostering an environment where all students thrive. Katie's tireless efforts extend to supporting classroom teachers, coordinators, and school leaders through a combination of coaching, mentoring, and diligent systems monitoring.
Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine. Her professional licenses include a California Clear Single-Subject Teaching Credential in English. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two active young boys. |
